How to Join BannerWomen Step 3: Prepare a Banner You will need to prepare a banner promoting your site that will rotate on other member sites. The dimensions of the banner must meet these requirements in order to work on our network: Width: 468 pixels Height: 60 pixels Format: GIF Total File Size: 8.0k or less Animation: Yes, but not recommended (many browser versions still in use- and due to a bug in Netscape- animations are often not recognized so its your best bet to design your banner non-animated). Unfortunately, we will have to return your banner for fine-tuning if it does not meet these dimension and size requirements. We also will return any banners deemed to contain inappropriate content. If you can not make your own banner, BannerWomen will be happy to make one for you. Simply prepay by check for $50 to: WWWomen, 435 Second Avenue #2, San Francisco, CA 94118. Include a note giving us the URL of your website so we may leverage your current look and feel if that's appropriate. BannerWomen is not a design house - we just want to help out people who have no other choice. Your banner will be simple but we will apply the experience we have in what makes an effective banner. Once you have prepared your banner, you can upload it to your server and let us know the URL where it can be found (your application in the next step requires this URL). You do not have to plug it into a webpage at your end if you don't want to. Just put the file in the directory where a browser can access it (i.e. http://www.bannerwomen.com/banner.gif). Once we have received your banner, and approve your application, we can register your banner in the program. We will then send you a confirmation email which will also contain your Membership Affiliate ID number, your Banner ID #, and your Page(s) ID number, as well as prepared code to plug into your page according the specifications of the program. Note: You accrue banner exposure credits for your banner by displaying banners on your registered page(s) from other members. You can always "jump-start" your account and load up your banner exposure credits, as an option, by purchasing special AdPaks at member-only rates. See our BannerWomen AdPaks page for more details. This program is completely optional but we wanted some way to help new sites or low volume sites without traffic to get going so they can drive more traffic through the program.
