Advertiser FAQ
It takes a lot of time and labor to reach web site owners and juggle
advertising campaigns on multiple sites. Many sites that have a great
audience for your message are not really set up to work with advertisers or
agencies or have enough volume by themselves. BannerWomen not only allows
you to focus in on a female audience, it centralizes and simplifies the
process of targeting women across a diverse number of sites.
We maintain a current
Members Profile List for your review. This will
provide you an overview of the type of websites that will be displaying
your banner.
You will need a banner that is 468 pixels wide x 60 pixels high. Next you
look the BannerWomen AdPak chocies you have. Then
you fill out the order form and mail a check to us according to the instructions.
Once we have received your check, we will set up your campaign, activate it, and
email you that it has been activated and provide an access code for real-time
online reporting so you can monitor the progress of your campaign.
Prices begin at $100 (for members) and $250 (for non-members). AdPaks are priced to
provide options for small businesses. See full details at our
AdPaks page.
If you are an organization or agency spending more than $1500 on a campaign, and
want a more customized approach, please see HerAgency.com,
a website representation agency which represents about 30 mid- to large sized female-oriented
websites. There are opportunities to customized your campaign for a Run-of-Network on the
HerAgency selection of sites or actually target a single or group sites that more directly
reaches your target demographic.
Run-of-Network campaigns reach across the entire BannerWomen network of female
oriented websites. This is very useful to reach a wide range of women who have
diverse interests (for examples, moms may be surfing at more than just mom-related
websites). Category targeting means your banner will just appear on the websites
that are assign to that category.
No, the BannerWomen AdPaks are priced per banner exposure.
Per Inquiry campaigns are rarely, but on occasion, considered by BannerWomen. We
review each opportunity for how compatible the offer is, and the price per inquiry
offered (and how it translates into a comparable CPM rate). You can
contact us if you think you have a compelling
offer.
We do not, under any circumstances, accept Per Sale type of campaigns.
Banners must be 468 pixels wide by 60 pixels high and no larger than 10k.
We also have tips on more effective
banners.
Animated banners are accepted. Banners that use more advanced technology
than standard animated or non-animated banners should be discussed with
your BannerWomen Administrator. Our experience has shown many women
surfers are not set up to handle the more advanced technology and may
significantly reduce the performance of your campaign.
Advertisers should also keep in mind that a bug in Netscape 2.x with
remote banner delivery and certain other lower end browsers- AOL for
example, do not support animation. This can translate into a large
segment of the viewership not seeing the complete cycle of your message
on your banner. The AOL 3.0 browser only displays the first frame
of the animation and certain versions of Netscape only do one cycle
of the animation and then sits on the last frame of your animation.
Our AdPaks are positioned to be so price effective that an entry-level
AdPak could be considered a test.
BannerWomen offers standard performance reports so advertisers can understand
how many times their banner was presented, how many times a surfer clicked
on the banner, and the performance click-through ratio.
No, we maintain the privacy rights of our network members.
According to BannerWomen, an impression is defined as each time the
BannerWomen program delivers a banner graphic file to a member's web site.
These are banner views and not page views. A percentage of surfers turn
graphics off in their browser and thus our program does not deliver a
banner for those cases, and does not count these as impressions.
According to BannerWomen, a click-through is defined as each time a
surfer actually clicks on a banner delivered by the BannerWomen program.
When a user clicks on such a banner, it first goes to our program and
logs the action and then sends the user to the referring URL supplied
by the Advertiser.
Tip: We have found that some animated banners which have a long cycle
in the banner's full animation sequence actually frustrates the surfer
as they will not be referred to the advertiser's URL until the
animation sequence has completed one cycle. This is just a technical
limitation of animated banners. Please keep in mind that many surfers
have slow modems and this can impact the effectiveness of your banner's
performance. What we typically see is the user will click on the banner
again and again until they go (because they think it might be stuck or that
they didn't hit it right). Our advice is- if you are going to use animation
in your banner, keep it as simple as possible and keep the length of the
sequence as short as possible.
According to BannerWomen, an inquiry is defined as a submitted response
form. In an inquiry campaign, a user clicks on the banner and reaches a
special "bridge page" that lives at BannerWomen (but can contain the look
and feel of the Advertiser). The user will have fields to fill out in
order to request a free catalog or sample. You will work with your
BannerWomen Account Manager to establish which fields to place on your
inquiry form.
